Goodbye Celebrity Infinity
Being on the ferry that'll carry us from Harwich, UK to the Netherlands. We did it. We almost did it. Crossing this ocean by ship for the second time in our life. We won't miss it, I'm sure!

All the things we didn't do
Captains Dinner, tanning and sweating on the deck, Faberge egg collection exhibition, diamond shopping, lounging and Spa, specialty dining, disco dongo and Celebrity Pilates shape up so you can eat some more all day.

After the storm
The sun is out again, as if it had never been gone.
One more day, two more nights to Harwich and we're hoping for the sea to stay calm.

Off to Harwich
Later that day we left Ireland to experience the worst night during our 14-day trip crossing the stormy irish sea. The waves were so high they hit the ship probably one deck higher than ours. Sisto feared they were going to smash it while I didn't even notice them being deep asleep.

Rainy irish day - let's have a cup o' tea!
After getting wet through and through being out just a little while, after having troubles finding a place to go online, after being out for not too long, we didn't go for a nice hike due to the weather, but decided to have a chill day aboard.

On the lookout
We didn't see lots of people after walking a little bit off the main roads,
this cat however sure was telling us to mind our own business.

Downtown streets
Criss-crossing up and down the hill, we explored the small town a little. However the weather wasn't our friend and cold nasty rain made this a short exploration. Unfortunately...

Undecided today
Undecided which picture I'd like to show you today, I'll excuse myself and simply give you both views of Cobh, nearing in sight. The little village, part of Cork Harbour, used to be named Queenstown until 1920 and was the last port of call of the RMS Titanic. Isn't that something?

Ireland, Europe
The sea was rough when we reached the irish coast. The wind was so heavy that our faces got wet and salty while we stood outside on the 3rd deck to watch the vessel enter Cobh's port. Ireland. Europe.

5 days to cross an ocean
It took us only almost six days to cross the entire Atlantic Ocean. That's not too bad. Still our trip in total was like 2 weeks going up along the american coastline, stopping every other day, and taking two more days in the end to make it to the south eastern coast of England.

Pantry stacks
Food on the ship was ok, but we had to stack some things, like bananas, because they only had them in the morning for whatever reason. If we wanted them later on we had to safe some in our room.

Last goodbye, America...
Passing another fortress - Halifax has so many of them - located on an island we took off in the afternoon, leaving behind Halifax, Canada and the american continent to cross the large Atlantic sea.

Farmers market and raw vegan food
Around noon we spent some last dollars to get us great raw smoothies, raw burger and some grubs for the next days - that we weren't allowed to take on board with us, forcing me to chow down two huge pretzels and throwing away the delicious raw dressing Sisto got for his bland salads on board. WTF!

Spring sign sightings - Canada
After passing the Halifax Fortress we crossed a nice public garden with curly trees that presented some teeny tiny spring signs - daffodils, crocuses and such. It sure was lovely!

Early morning walk
Walking down a yet empty public pier early in the morning after arriving in Halifax. The water was calm, and those very few people we met almost entirely were up for a morning run enjoying the nice, crisp weather.

Early morning view on McNabs Island
Nearing the coast of Canada. Further up north and no obvious signs of spring here yet. But as you might imagine Canada, forests of pine trees morning fog above it. Halifax is close now.

G'bye 'merica
Instead of it being the first harbor to welcome us, for us New York was the last stop on U.S. grounds. Making our departure special and leaving us with a feeling that there was so much more to be seen.

Expensive glitch
Patterns and a glitch for you today. Those billboards cost the companies who want to advertise millions each day. Nice to see them do their own thing here!

City of canyons
New York. This city, or at least what I've seen so far with all it's towers and canyons, more towers, more canyons - it's structures remind me of those seen some thousands of miles away when driving through the mountains.

Skyline
Yes, it's the skyline of the isle of Manhattan, which for some people is the center of the world. After our short visit of just a couple of hours now we totally understand why and I guess we both put it on our to do-list that day.

Miami in daylight and dusk
Just a small excerpt of Miami's skyline that was surrounding the ship with huge towers, waterways, houses, beaches, yachts and more towers. It's hard to capture the mix of these massive blocks made of concrete and glass on the one hand and glimmering water and lush green on the other.

Entering the cruise on May 29th
Being the alien or being amongst alien - a good question on the ship. We preferred to keep safe distance.

One month ago
View out of our stateroom on may 2nd, to the day one month ago, somewhere between New York and Halifax, a quiet ocean early in the morning.

June is here now
After a long long absence - that partially happened due to us being on a ship for two weeks, and in other parts of arriving here feeling quite crappy (yes, jetlag happened even though we came the slow way) and getting overwhelmed with organizational stuff, running from one institution to the next to get our foot in the german door - I now officially announce us having arrived and starting to settle down in germany.
No, we're not yet done with that paper work stack and all the crap that goes along if you need to get your shit straight (health insurance, a place to live, money to put food into your bowl and such). But at least I feel that we are slowly moving away from the surprise of after 2 years suddenly finding us back here in germany.
For June I thought, since I haven't shared anything from that trip yet plus I can't charge my camera battery yet, I'm going to post one picture of this last month every day.
So here's #1:
Last harvest done in the middle of the last night. Carrots, Kohlrabi and its leaves. I left the other two Kohlrabis in place since they were too small to take. How they look like by now I wonder.
